The name Lachen means "big pass". The Sikkimese government promotes it as a tourist destination. The town forms the base to the Chopta Valley and Gurudongmar Lake. An annual yak race, the Thangu is held there in summer.
On the way, take a break for some beautiful spots that are worth seeing and visiting like Naga Waterfall, The Confluence of Lachen Chu (River) and Lachung Chu (River) at Chungthang and Bhim Nala Waterfall. On arrival at Lachen, check into your hotel. Dinner and Overnight stay at Lachen.

Today drive for Lachung (8,738 Ft.) through the picturesque valley. Lachung is a mountain village close to the Tibetan border, in the northeastern Indian state of Sikkim. It's divided by the Lachung River. The village is home to the 19th-century Buddhist Lachung Monastery, surrounded by apple orchards. Nearby, the Yumthang Valley's Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary protects many species of rhododendron. The valley is also known for its waterfalls, pine forests and hot springs.
After Early breakfast proceed to Gurudongmar Lake (17,100 Ft.) enrout visit Thangu Valley (12,795 Ft.) and Gurudongmar Lake is the second highest lake in the World and it will take approx 3-4 hours’ drive from Lachen (One way). The Lake generally is covered with snow from December to April or even more and is known as the Holy / Sacred Lake. Afternoon back to hotel for lunch at Lachen and check out for a 2 hrs. Drive to Lachung (8,738 Ft.). Evening arrival and check-in to the hotel. Dinner and Overnight stay at Lachung.

Early Morning drive to Yumthang Valley is also known as Valley of Flowers (12,000 ft / 26 Kms. / 1½ Hrs. one way) and further drive to Zero Point or Yumesamdong (14,500 Ft. / 25 Kms. / 1 Hrs. one way) close to Tibet Border, one of the highest motorable roads in Sikkim. The road to Zero Point is quiet treacherous, but the possibility of getting snow is very high as Zero Point is mostly covered by snow almost throughout the year. On the way to back also, visit Hot Spring, which is considered to have medicinal properties. Back to hotel for lunch and drive to Gangtok (5,500 Ft. / 116 Kms. / 6 Hrs.). After breakfast, start for Pelling via Namchi to visit Siddheshwar Dham (Chardham) and Sai Temple. Pelling - The famous Pemayangste monastery is less than a kilometre from here and is a major tourist hotspot. Pelling also has sites for mountain biking, rock climbing, village tours, meditations, apart from serving as a base for a number of treks in the region.

After breakfast, start for a full day sightseeing tour, visit to Darap village, Rimbi waterfalls, Khecheopalri Lake (Wishfulling Lake) and Khangchendzongha waterfalls.
